Frequently Asked Questions

European car ownership comes with questions — what service costs, what's normal versus a problem, and when to bring your car in. Here are straightforward answers to what we're asked most. Need specifics for your car? Book an appointment or call (626) 584-9730.

Service & Maintenance

Service & Maintenance

How much does an oil change or service cost?

It depends on your specific make, model, engine, and the correct oil and filter spec — a BMW M car takes different oil and filters than a Mercedes SUV. Rather than guess, we give you an accurate quote based on your actual vehicle. Share your year, model, and trim or VIN when you book and we'll confirm the cost before your visit.

How often should I service my European car?

Manufacturers often call for an oil service every 7,500–10,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first. Our own recommendation, though, is every 5,000 miles or every 6 months, whichever comes first — it's inexpensive insurance that keeps these engines running their best. Driving conditions matter too: short trips, heat, spirited driving, or long idle periods can shorten the interval, and we'll help you dial in the right schedule for how you actually drive.

Are European cars expensive to maintain?

European cars are built to tight tolerances and need specific parts, fluids, and procedures, which costs more than an economy car — but it doesn't have to break the bank. As an independent European specialist we typically come in below dealership pricing on common maintenance and repairs, while following the same procedures and using the right tools.

How does your pricing compare to the dealership?

We're usually competitive with or lower than dealership rates, backed by our 1-year / 12,000-mile warranty — plus direct communication, quicker appointments, and faster turnaround. Pricing depends on the job, parts, and vehicle condition, and we give you a clear estimate upfront so you can make an informed decision.

Repairs & Diagnostics

Repairs & Diagnostics

How much does a diagnostic cost?

It depends on the symptom and how deep we need to go. Some issues surface with a quick scan; others take extended testing. Rather than quote a number that may not apply, we prefer to assess the symptoms first and give you an accurate estimate. Give us a call to discuss what's going on.

What vehicles do you work on?

We specialize in European cars — Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche, Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, and Range Rover — and we also service all makes and models. We carry factory-level scanners and software, including the equipment to reset service and warning lights.

My check engine or warning light is on — what should I do?

Bring it in. We use factory-level diagnostic equipment to read the fault properly, pinpoint the cause, and explain what it means before any work begins — no guesswork.

Why are my brakes squeaking?

Squeaking doesn't always mean a problem — common causes include performance pad compounds, dust on the rotors, glazed pads, or an activated wear sensor. The only way to know for sure is an inspection. We measure pad thickness, check rotor condition, and show you exactly what's going on.

Bodywork & Insurance

Bodywork & Insurance

Do you do bodywork and collision repair?

Yes — we do bodywork and collision repair to restore your vehicle properly from start to finish. Get in touch and we'll take care of it.

Do you work with insurance and extended warranties?

Yes. We work directly with insurance companies, third-party insurers, and extended warranty & vehicle service contract providers to get your repair covered. Bring us your claim and we'll handle the rest.

Parts & Warranty

Parts & Warranty

Do you use OEM parts?

Yes — we use genuine and OEM parts, and can source quality OE-equivalent options when it makes sense for the repair and your budget. We'll recommend the best option for your car and goals.

Is there a warranty on your repairs?

Yes. Every repair and every part we supply is backed by a 1-year / 12,000-mile warranty. We confirm the specific terms on your estimate and invoice — no surprises.

Can I bring my own parts?

We generally supply parts in-house so we can stand behind them with our warranty. We only accept customer-supplied parts in certain cases — please call to discuss before your appointment.

Are you certified?

Yes. Our technicians are ASE certified and certified across a wide range of European makes, including BMW and Rolls-Royce. We're fully BAR-licensed by the State of California and members of the ASCCA.

Performance & Upgrades

Performance & Upgrades

Can you do performance upgrades and tuning?

Yes. We offer performance upgrades for every car we service and full in-house ECU tuning for BMW. We also do bolt-on exhaust — with our own in-house exhaust line and partnerships with all the big-name exhaust manufacturers — plus performance and track alignments.

Do you offer pre-purchase inspections?

Yes. A pre-purchase inspection gives you a full picture of a used car's condition before you buy — mechanical systems, wear items, service-history indicators, and common failure points for that model — so you can buy with confidence or negotiate accordingly.
